Can Aaron Jones Keep It Going for Vikings?

This past week was important for Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones. He was having a disastrous performance against the Arizona Cardinals. In addition to lacking production, Jones fumbled twice and He almost cost his team the game.

Can Aaron Jones Continue for the Vikings?

He quickly put his performance behind him and looked more like himself against the Atlanta Falcons. Jones rushed 13 times and tallied 74 yards for an average of 5.6 yards per carry. He found pay dirt and caught a few passes out of the backfield.

That’s the kind of performance Minnesota needs to see the rest of the way. Jones was brought in to distract the Vikings from what happened with Alexander Mattison. They needed a proven runner who could be reliable for a consistent level of production. So far Jones has been every bit of it.

The Vikings saw a back game frequently injured due to minor nicks. He’s stayed on the field this year and hasn’t missed a game yet. The fumbles were unfortunate, but the Cardinals game really stood out.

Chicago also represents a big opportunity for Jones. He returned 106 yards on 22 carries when the teams matched up just a few weeks ago. He also threw a touchdown pass in that game and added three catches on Bears running back Justin Jefferson.

It remains to be seen how Chicago’s secondary will react against the superstar this time around. They’re coached by a different man in Thomas Brown and the plan may look different More than what Matt Eberflus brings to the table. For the Vikings to be versatile, Jones needs to eat.

The Vikings did a good job of getting Jones to succeed early and often. If he can keep this up for another good week, he has a chance to make his mark once again against his league rival. As big favorites, there may be an opportunity to push the tempo in the second half. Expectations must be high for the Monday Night Football veteran to rise to the challenge once again.
