OFF and IND: Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 is heating up and things are slowly starting to improve off the field now in the middle of the series. After the third Test at the Gabba in Brisbane ended in a draw and the Indian dressing room congratulated their team on taking the next point, the Australian players liked this: Nathan Lyon opened fire on them. Later, India’s legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that he was quitting international cricket midway through the series; This was an unexpected decision.

Now, another Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is making headlines for a controversial reason. On Saturday, December 21, the all-rounder chatted with reporters after the training session. Australia’s Channel 7 fired back at Jadeja, saying he did not answer questions on their channel. They said the Indian all-rounder said he was late for the team bus and seemingly ignored them.

Channel 7 also stated that the Indian team manager invited the Australian media but Jadeja chose to answer questions in Hindi (his native language). We all know that Jadeja is not fluent in English. However, Channel 7 was disappointed that Southpaw chose not to answer questions in English.

However, Indian media such as RevSportz defended Jadeja and said that he had the right to answer questions in his native language and that Australian media should translate it into English. They also cited examples such as Lionel Messi, who chose to answer in Spanish because he did not know English.

Earlier, Virat Kohli too had landed in hot water for a heated argument with a Channel 7 journalist. He was recording the former Indian captain’s family and children without his permission and Kohli was not happy about it. The former Indian skipper has always protected his family’s privacy and did not allow reporters to click photos of his baby. However, Channel 7 defended the action, stating that Kohli was in a public space and therefore they were allowed to film his family.

The third test will begin at the MCG on December 26. The series is level at 1-1. If India wins the series 3-1, they will qualify for the WTC final without depending on anyone. They need one more win to retain BGT.
