Body found in Lady Bird Lake in Austin Texas

Another body found at popular Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texasthe location of other recently deceased individuals.

The latest body found joins a growing mystery after at least 6 more bodies were found in the lake throughout the year in 2024. On Friday, police were called to investigate reports of a person dead in the water near the 1st Street Bridge and the 300 block. Cesar Chavez.

Austin Police Department (APD) said that they did not suspect murder because there were no signs of trauma on the body, but they were investigating the incident.

Despite APD’s efforts to allay the community’s fears, questions and speculation continue to snowball. Police stated that most of the deaths were due to accidental drownings due to the lake’s proximity to nightclubs and bars.

The last body was found on December 1. The victim was recently identified as 73-year-old Thi Lang Nguyen. Austin police say there is nothing connected to the other deaths this year.

In September, a man was acting erratically near East Cesar Chavez and Nueces Streets. He then went into the water and never resurfaced. It was later removed and was declared dead.

In February, a woman’s body was found in the water about 20 feet from the north shore, and in April a fisherman noticed another person floating in the water.

In July, a man suffered blunt force trauma on the road near Rainey Street. The man was pronounced dead a short time later.

A body was found along a trail near the lake off Pleasant Valley Road in September.
