IND and OFF: India have had an inconsistent performance in the longest format of the game; but while playing in Australia, many Indian batsmen failed to perform consistently.

Even the likes of Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been inconsistent, while the likes of new addition Nitish Kumar Reddy, who came mostly to drop down the order, have shown reliability in the Indian batting order.

The first test marked the collapse of the Indian batsmen and the brilliance of NK Reddy in his first innings in Perth. However, when the Indian innings collapsed in both the innings of the second test, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored invaluable runs for the Indian side despite all the odds and playing alongside the lower order.

Some former players have stated that Nitish Reddy, despite his good form, should be omitted from the starting eleven to accommodate players with more experience in the longest format of the game.

Even though India has fallen Washington Sundar Despite his stunning record with the pink ball to bring Ravi Ashwin into the playing XI, he could not help Adelaide much.

This has been a constant surprise to every Indian fan possible. Ravindra Jadeja India was omitted from the Test XI. Jadeja has achieved commendable success with both bat and ball in the format and was still adjudged the best all-rounder in tests conducted by the ICC.

While Jadeja was not named in both the tests, Washington Sundar and Nitish Reddy were identified as the new all-rounders. The Gambhir era marked the erasure of Jadeja from both ODIs and test squads.

If Nitish Kumar Reddy is dropped by India, it would not be ideal for any player other than Ravindra Jadeja to be brought into the Indian side, but Sundar was also seen in the nets already at the Gabba.
