“I told them, ‘Tell Aditya Chopra, whoever he is…”

Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, best known for portraying the superhero Shaktimaan, recently revealed that he once turned down an offer from Yash Raj Films (YRF) to sell the rights to the character. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan on YouTube, Khanna discussed why he rejected the proposal and expressed his views on potential actors for the Shaktiman reboot.

Mukesh Khanna’s meeting with YRF Mukesh Khanna shared that Aditya Chopra’s team approached him a decade ago with a proposal to acquire the rights of Shaktimaan. Recalling the conversation, Khanna said, “Ten years ago, I was contacted by Aditya Chopra’s group. They asked me if I could give them the rights to Shaktiman.” He added, “At that time, coincidentally, a fan-made picture of Ranveer Singh during Shaktimaan surfaced on social media. Then, suddenly, I got this call for the rights. I said, ‘Hak nahin doonga main (I will not give the rights).’ ‘”

Khanna explained that he was concerned about the creative direction YRF could take with the character. He stated, “I told them, ‘Tell Aditya, whoever he is, if you want, work with me.’ I don’t want to give them the right to make a disco drama. I refuse.” Casting Preferences for Shaktimaan Earlier, in a video posted on his YouTube channel, Khanna revealed his views on actors who could potentially play the role of Shaktimaan on the big screen. While he admitted Allu Arjun as a viable candidate, he ruled out Ranveer Singh must watch more Allu Arjun movies. Also, let me go out on a limb and say that he has it in him to be Shaktiman. I’m not saying he did or anything. I just suggested that it would look good on him. He has the personality to pull it off,” says Khanna.
