George Wrighster’s 10 College Football Players That Are On Pace To Win The 2023 Heisman

We’ve played enough games.

It’s time to put together my list of 10 players who have a chance to be your 2023 Heisman Trophy winner.

Let’s get into it.

10) Washington State Quarterback Camera Ward

The Incarnate Word transfer had a difficult first season in Pullman. He held the ball too much, his timing out wide was off, and he didn’t always make easy shots with his legs. He fixed all of that this year and the result was a mind-boggling 13 touchdowns and no interceptions on 75% completions. It will be difficult for him to attract media attention, but away games at Oregon and Washington will give him every chance he needs.

9) Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders.

Why is Shedeur Sanders on this list after his performance against Oregon?

There are two reasons for this: First, his upcoming schedule is as tough as any in the country. If he keeps going and a few more dominoes fall his way, he’s undeniable.

Second, what happened in Oregon revealed the truth that people who know the ball have known all along. Shedeur Sanders ***IS*** Colorado’s offense. Every other actor on this list has a supporting cast trying to help them get the Oscar. Sanders is essentially Tom Hanks in Castaway.

8) LSU Wide Receiver Malik Nabers

One of my biggest complaints about Jayden Daniels in his five-year college career is that he doesn’t give future NFL wide receivers the opportunity to win one-on-one matchups. That has changed this year because Daniels is letting Nabers make plays.

Assuming LSU can play in 14 games this year, Nabers will be on pace for 1,800 yards and 18 touchdowns.

7) Texas Quarterback Quinn Ewers

Quinn Ewers beat Alabama on the road; That’s something that hasn’t happened among non-conference quarterbacks since Nick Saban’s first year on the job. He’s not having the best statistical season among quarterback prospects, but the Big 12 is terrible enough this year that he could catch up.

6) Florida State Quarterback Jordan Travis

The advantage for Travis is that Florida State’s toughest games are behind him. At this point, it would even be fair to consider him a leader. He will need the support of the Seminole defense, because as long as they hold their end, they will have a good chance to make their mark on this season in their 10th game against Miami and in the season finale against Miami. Florida.

5) Notre Dame Audric Goes Back on Her Prediction

The Golden Domers will need to win, that’s the only way people will forget that Estime had an average game against Ohio State. But Estime has a chance to average over 7 yards per game all season. If he does that in 200+ carries, he’ll be on the scene.

4) Oregon Quarterback Bo Nix

Bo Nix was a five-star recruit coming out of high school. He’s doing exactly what he was supposed to do in year five. His risks are calculated, and he’s flirting with an 80% completion percentage while hitting shots from the field. It’s also a priority for Oregon to keep Bo Nix’s name in this conversation, so you know they’ll put up numbers.

3) Washington WR Roma Odunze

Odunze is on this list as college football’s best running back and arguably receiver, but you know how that works. This is a QB award.

So far, Rome Odunze has been more of Marvin Harrison Jr. than Marvin Harrison Jr. people think he is. Don’t shoot the messenger.

2) USC Quarterback Caleb Williams

Caleb Williams had a “hard time” accounting for his five goals against Arizona State. This is a bad day for him. He has the best receivers in the country. Arguably the best player ever to create his own pocket without taking his eyes off the field. And perhaps most importantly, it is the biggest brand in college football. USC will be in the talks even if he makes less than other quarterbacks in the race.

1) Washington Quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

This guy rushes for five thousand yards and 50 touchdowns and doesn’t force anything. Everything happens in the rhythm of the attack. Washington’s defense gave him the ball back and he went to work. The perfect combination of head coach and quarterback. But if there’s a result worse than 11-1, voters shouldn’t even count it.

Let that sink in.
